Alaric continued to make his rounds around the splendid room. The music was lively and many people had already started dancing, there were a couple people who were doing a fast and lively waltz. It looked charming. He turned his head and a bright red head caught his eye. A young woman with red hair and a deep red and cream dress leaning against the wall. He wasn't sure why she caught his eye but he turned around and decided to go to the balcony. He unconsciously hoped that she would be in his class. -Alaric- leaves the room

Noelle watched as Hecate left from the dance floor. She could have felt miffed for being brushed off like that, but after all, Hecate hadn't looked well, and maybe it was for the best. She could always talk to her afterwards.
Noelle sat down and watched the people, noticing OJ, Vivian and Julie all having a conversation. Not wanting to look like a loner, she slowly walked up to them, but kept her distance in case she intruded on anything. After all, they were all enjoying themselves; who'd want to spoil that on a night like this?

Vincent enters the area.
Door duty.
It could have been worse, really. Much, much worse. As in, on the dance floor, worse. The gardener shuddered at the thought of being around so many people; it was less likely to be a situation of a jumble of sticky, sequined bodies rubbing against each other in some visually unpleasant manner or another, but regardless, he was never fond of social situations. Particularly ones where interaction was absolutely necessary. It made him...squick inside.
The gardener was a bit spruced up tonight from his usual attire. He wore a green frock coat to match his eyes, the cravat a deep wine red to set off the rest of his otherwise charcoal black attire. A simple black ribbon kept his hair out of his face. Of course, he also donned a pair of black gloves.
Tonight would be fairly simple; he would stand at the door and make sure only academy students and staff were entering. The staff he was somewhat familiar with; students, not nearly as much, so everyone had to show a school ID of some kind. He wasn't too worried otherwise. Mille-fueille was out in the middle of nowhere.
Vincent stood to one side of the propped open doors, wishing he had something to occupy his time as the guests were slowly filtering into the ballroom.

Rowan was leaning against the wall as she watched the festivities. She simply watched as the dance progressed. A young man caught her eye and for a moment she made eye contact with him. He was very good looking. Was he a student here or was he a professor? He looked a little too old and walked to seriously to be a student.
She found her legs and feet becoming quite sore. She pushed herself off the wall and made her way to the tables.

Vivian sighed. She was quite exhausted and the corset did not make her feel any better. Sh also received word that she should come home for christmas, for lord Thorton was visiting. Vivian couldn't stand the idea of meeting that man. She also knew that she would have to wear that ring. Othervise the punishment would be severe.
She lookd longinly at th balcony doors and wondered if she could slip out for a while. OJ seemed preoccupied and she felt that she really needed some air. "I'm going to get some air" she exclaimd and slip away from hr group.

OJ was engrossed with his conversations with the ladies who'd come in when he noticed that his date was wandering away. She was clearly still upset. That wouldn't do. This was supposed to be a fun time for all the students. He smiled at Rowan and Julie, saying, "Excuse me ladies. I'll talk with you all later, okay?"
He ran after his date. He was going to find out what was wrong no matter what.

Veronica enters the room
There was no way that Veronica was going to miss something like this. Even when she agreed that she would miss out on the dance, she decided that she was going to go. It would be fun slipping in, and besides, the ballroom was big enough that no one would notice.
Her plan, if asked, was that she had slipped out when the person watching the door wasn't paying attention. She saw that on the door was Snape and put on her best smile. She walked past him with a smile and a wave. She moved in like she knew what she was doing. Then, she made herself disappear into the crowds. It was time for some fun.

He hoped the five hours would pass quickly. Students slowly filed in, and he casually glanced at their identification cards, just to make sure the faces matched. The gardener wasn't particularly worried about people not associated with the academy trying to sneak in; after all, they were quite isolated and it would be a lot of trouble, just to go for a dance.
Sighing, he dusted off imaginary dirt from his frock coat, looking up as a student approached. At first glance, he didn't think anything of it, as she explained that she had just entered earlier and was coming back. He nodded and waved her in.
...
Wait.
The gardener blinked, doing somewhat of a double take and he watched the girl walk in. Didn't he just...wait...what? He could have sworn he had just seen her walk in, but never walk out. No one had left yet. Something was up.
He would have to find someone else to confirm this. Which meant....going into the ballroom. Crap. Maybe he could get someone else. But unfortunately, a quick glance found no other supervisor in sight. Crap crap crap. Taking a deep breath, he smoothed out invisible wrinkles, and all that jazz, and stepped into the room.
He would go to the foods table. He knew there was someone already there on duty, and it would be faster than wandering around trying to find another professor.

Noelle watched Vivian slip away from the ballroom. At first, she was tempted to go after her, as she was worried about her roommate; then she noticed OJ following her. She assumed he was trying to help her too, so she left it and sat down again.
Everyone was dancing around, obviously having a great time. The gardener, Snape, was on door duty, who looked bored, to say the least. although it was a student ball, Noelle thought that the teachers should have been having fun too. Like Dr. Ludvig and Miss Junko had been. Dr. Ludvig There was still something she didn't understand. He was crazy, she'd heard, but he didn't seem to be malignant. In fact, he was quite quiet, and perfectly friendly to her when she wanted some punch. She needed to stop listening to all these rumors.
Noelle looked longingly at the dance floor. She wanted to dance herself, but she'd look like a loner by herself. And the shoes she was wearing now were simple brown Mary Janes, slightly scuffed at the heel and probably not ideal dancing shoes. She'd never danced properly before, wasn't here a dancing class at the school? Maybe she should take that up next year. Watching the entrance, she noticed Veronica quietly slipping into the crowd at the dance floor. At last, someone she knew! Noelle stood up and again slipped into the same crowd, surrounded by chattering students; perhaps looking a little lost.

Now that Vivian and OJ had left, Julie had returned to her silent state of watching people dance. She saw Noelle passing by, but didn't feel like following her. Misterious thing, Julie was never as willing to talk to people at parties then she was in daily situations.
"I wonder what kind of food they have...", she thought, walking away from the dance floor.
